A Spanish quicky...

Ahhhh, Mérida. Once known as Augusta Emerita (not Emerita Augusta for those who want to be in-the-know), the provincial capital of Lusitania. Always a welcome 3.5 hour trip from Lisbon.

What did I do in Mérida you ask? Well, I will tell you. I discussed, with one of the leading experts of Mérida importations Dr. José Jerez Linde, fabrics and forms of Hispanica tardia wares.

It was wonderful. Captivating. Intense eye contact, touching the fabrics, rejoicing in the lustrous engobes and intrigued by the watery slips. Pure fabrics versus course, rugid inclusions. Me talking in my vulgar Portuguese, him speaking his beautiful and patient Spanish.

Oiye. Aiye, aiye, aiye.

And, I am spent.

Joey. I have started drinking Makers at 16:00 Lisbon time. Did I mention that I am also working on my paper for the British School in Rome? A titty bit buzzed...
